CHRONIC TRAUMATIC ENCEPHALOPATHY

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy is the brain degeneration caused by repeated traumatic brain injury and repeated episodes of concussion. A concussion is caused by a violent blow to the head or shaking of the head.

Above mentioned causative factors may lead to injury to the brain. There are different types of injuries manifested like hematoma, concussion, haemorrhage, skull fracture etc. In concussion, rapid and transient alteration in brain function occurs. Repeated episodes of concussion lead to brain degeneration. Symptoms of chronic traumatic encephalopathy are varying based on the degree of brain damage.

  • Take proper rest.

  • Nadi Shuddi Pranayam – calms the mind

The patient needs to be seated in a meditative posture with the head and spine erect, and the body relaxed. The patient has to close one nostril (e.g. left nostril if using the right hand and vice versa) with the thumb and exhale completely through the other nostril. Again, he will have to breathe in deeply through the other nostril while the opposite nostril is still closed with the thumb.
