Giriş

Hand and fingers are the tools and weapon of human beings to perform any activity or self-protection. We can undoubtedly say that it is the most used motor organ. Any pain in hand or fingers can affect the person’s productivity and daily life seriously. Hand pain is often the result of a recent injury or from overusing the hand or wrist. However, persistent or reoccurring pain in the hand may be the sign of an underlying condition. Finger pain is often the result of minor injuries. People can often treat finger pain at home with rest and immobilization. However, severe, worsening, or recurring pain may be the sign of a more serious injury or an underlying condition. Possible causes of finger pain include tendon conditions, arthritis, ganglion cysts, and infections.

Ganglion cysts are fluid-filled lumps that can develop near joints and tendons in the hand and wrist.

Trigger finger – Stenosing tenosynovitis, or trigger finger can make it difficult to move the affected finger or thumb.

Scleroderma is a group of conditions that result in unusual growth of connective tissue under the skin or around internal organs.

Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve, which runs through the wrist, becomes compressed or squeezed.

Peripheral neuropathy in hands occurs when the peripheral nerves are damaged. There are a number of things that can cause peripheral nerve damage, including diabetes, traumatic injuries, infections, and metabolic problems. Peripheral neuropathy can affect the nerve that goes into the hand and fingers which cause pain and other symptoms. Any compression or damage to any spinal nerves can cause pain and other discomforts in the area supplied by that nerve.  Any disorder to spinal nerve roots from C7 to T1 and radial & ulnar nerves supplying the arm to the hand from brachial plexus can cause pain in the hand and fingers.

A person can usually treat a minor finger injury using RICE therapy:

Rest. Avoid using the finger as much as possible until it has had time to heal. It may also help to immobilize the finger using a splint or by buddy taping it to a neighboring finger.

Ice. Apply an ice pack to the injured finger for up to 20 minutes several times per day. Ice packs can help reduce pain and swelling.

Compression. Wrap the injured finger snuggly, but not too tight to cause constriction of the blood vessels, in a soft dressing or bandage.

Elevation. Keeping the finger elevated above the level of the heart can help reduce swelling.

Taking over-the-counter (OTC) pain relief medications, such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and naproxen, may also help reduce pain and swelling.

People who suspect a fracture or dislocation should avoid moving the finger and seek prompt medical attention.

A trained healthcare professional will reset the bone and immobilize the finger to allow it to heal properly, which reduces the risk of further complications.

Prognoz

In most of the cases, hand and wrist pain will not be a sign of a serious or long-term problem. It will settle in a few days or weeks. But there are several conditions that can cause pain or other symptoms in the hands and wrists, including types of arthritis which may show very bad prognosis.

Carbonated drinks – makes the stomach more acidic and disturbed digestion

Refrigerated and frozen foods – causes weak and sluggish digestion by weakening Agni (digestive fire)

Milk and milk products – increase kapha, cause obstruction in channels and obesity

Curd – causes vidaaha and thereby many other diseases

Green gram, soups.

Freshly cooked and warm food processed with cumin seeds, ginger, black pepper, ajwain etc

Davranışlar:

Protect yourself from cold climate.

Maintain a regular food and sleep schedule.

İdrar, dışkı, öksürük, hapşırık vb. dürtüleri tutmaktan veya zorlamaktan kaçının.

Avoid sedentary lifestyle. Be active.

Yoga

Regular stretching and cardio exercises are advised. Also, specific yogacharya is recommended.

Regular exercise helps improve bioavailability of the medicine and food ingested and leads to positive health.
