INGREDIENTS

Lawsonia Inermis (Henna)

USAGE

Hair Conditioning Make a wet henna paste with curd and apply from root to tip wearing hand gloves. After an hour, rinse your hair till all traces of henna are removed. This makes the hair soft, healthy and shiny. Hair Colouring Make a thick paste by combining the natural henna powder with water in a non-metallic bowl. Make sure there are no lumps in the paste. For a darker color, you could add ingredients like natural amla powder, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, black tea, black coffee or yogurt. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and store it under room temperature for 4-6 hours or more. The longer you keep it, the darker the color will be. Divide your hair into small sections and apply the paste thoroughly from root to tip wearing hand gloves and leave on for at least an hour. Secure your hair into a bun and cover your head with a shower cap. After 1 to 2 hours, rinse the mixture off, using water only. Hair should be rinsed till all traces of henna are removed. Shampoo your hair the next day. The effect of henna color on your hair will depend on your natural hair color. If you have completely grey hair, your hair will turn into a coppery orange color. Mehndi Art/Body Tattoos To create temporary mehndi tattoos anywhere on the body, make a wet paste using henna, black tea, and sugar. Soak overnight in an iron container and apply the next day. Note Henna should be mixed and left overnight in an iron container for enhancing the color of henna.
For Auburn color: Using henna alone can result in an auburn or copper color.
For Burgundy color: Combine henna with beetroot juice, lemon juice, and water.
For Brown color: Add coffee or tea powder to henna while soaking. You could also add the indigo powder to wet henna paste just before applying to get a brown tone. Different proportions of henna and indigo can give you varying shades of brown. Indigo does not release dye the same way that henna does, so it must be mixed and used right away, or within 15-20 minutes.
For Black Colour: For a black tone, you can apply indigo paste after you have first done your henna treatment. Do not leave the indigo paste on your hair for more than an hour.
