CAUSES OF CHONDROSARCOMA
Gene mutations are the major cause of chondrosarcoma. The risk factors are;
- Smoking
- Unwholesome diet
- Exposure to Radiation
- Some infections
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF CHONDROSARCOMA
Due to the above-mentioned causes, abnormal and uncontrolled cell division occurs which further attacks the healthy tissues. If the early symptoms are neglected it spreads to the other areas of the body, called metastasis.

- In Ayurveda the term ‘’arbuda” is used to describe a malignant tumour. According to Sushrut the three Doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) when aggravated may develop a malignant tumour; especially aggravated Kapha and Vata Doshas. This affects the tissue, which might result in developing a malignant tumour. Asthi arbuda occurs when aggravated Doshas disturbs the normal functioning of asthi dhathu, comparable to the accumulation of toxins (ama) in the asthi.
