PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF CYSTIC FIBROSIS

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic condition that affects the cells and tissues in the body that make mucous and sweat. Sticky mucus builds up in the organs leads to blockage and damaging the organs particularly the lungs and digestive system.

  • Test for level of chloride in the sweat

Due to the causative factors, vata dosha becomes vitiated and moves upwards leading to aggravation prana and udana vayu located in the chest region. Further vata brings contraction of the chest and its sides producing kasa with a loud sound. The excessively aggravated vata dosha dries up the snigdhata (mucous) in the respiratory and digestive systems produce symptoms.
